Mrs Jones did not have a husband, but she had two sons. They were big, strong boys, but they were lazy. On Saturdays they did not go to school, and then their mother always said, ‘Please cut the grass in the garden this afternoon, boys.’ The boys did not like it, but they did it.

Then somebody gave one of the boys a magazine, and he saw a picture of beautiful lawn-mower in it. There was a seat on it, and there was a woman on the seat.

The boy took the picture to his mother and brother and said to them, ‘Look, that woman’s sitting on the lawn-mower and driving it and cutting the grass. We want one of those.’

‘One of those lawn-mowers?’ his mother asked.

‘No,’ the boy said. ‘We want one of those women. Then she can cut the grass every week.’

မစၥ(စ္)ဂ်ဳံး မွွာ အမ်ိဳးသားမရွိေတာ့ပါ၊ ဒါေပမယ့္ သား ၂-ေယာက္ေတာ့ ရွိပါတယ္။ သူတို႔ေတြဟာ သန္မာ ထြားႀကိဳင္းတဲ့ သူေတြပါ၊ ဒါေပမယ့္ ပ်င္းၾကပါတယ္။ စေနေန႔ေတြမွာဆိုရင္ သူတို႔ ေက်ာင္းမသြားရပါဘူး၊ အဲဒီေတာ့ သူတို႔ အေမက “ေကာင္ေလးေတြ၊ ေန႔ခင္းမွာ ေက်းဇူးျပဳၿပီး ဥယ်ာဥ္ထဲက ျမက္ေတြ ရိတ္ၾကပါ” လို႔ အၿမဲတမ္းေျပာပါတယ္။ ေကာင္ေလေတြက အဲဒါကို မႀကိဳက္ၾကပါဘူး၊ ဒါေပမယ့္ သူတို႔ လုပ္ၾကပါတယ္။

အဲဒီေနာက္မွာေတာ့ ေကာင္ေလးတစ္ေယာက္ကို မဂၢဇင္း တစ္အုပ္ေပးခဲ့တယ္၊ ၿပီးေတာ့ အဲဒီမဂၢဇင္းထဲမွာ လွပတဲ့ ျမက္ရိတ္စက္ ပံုေလးကို ေတြ႔ခဲ့တယ္။ အဲဒီျမက္ရိတ္စက္ေပၚမွာ ထိုင္ခံုတစ္ခံုပါတယ္၊ ၿပီးေတာ့ အဲဒီထိုင္ခံုေပၚမွာ အမ်ိဳးသမီး တစ္ေယာက္က ထိုင္ေနတယ္။

ေကာင္ေလးက အဲဒီပံုကို သူ႔အကို နဲ႔ သူ႔အေမ ထံ ယူသြားၿပီးေတာ့ “ၾကည့္ပါဦး၊ အဲဒီ အမ်ိဳးသမီးက ျမက္ရိတ္စက္ေပၚမွာ ထိုင္ေနတယ္၊ ၿပီးေတာ့ ျမက္ရိတ္စက္ကို ေမာင္းၿပီး ျမက္ေတြကို ရိတ္ေနတယ္၊ ကၽြန္ေတာ္တို႔ အဲဒီအထဲက တစ္ခုေလာက္ေတာ့ လိုခ်င္တယ္” လို႔ ေျပာခဲ့တယ္။

“အဲဒီအထဲက တစ္ခုက ျမက္ရိတ္စက္ကိုလား” လို႔ သူ႔အေမက ေမးခဲ့တယ္။

“မဟုတ္ပါဘူးဗ်ာ၊ အဲဒီအထဲက တစ္ခုက အမ်ိဳးသမီးကို ေျပာတာ” လို႔ ေကာင္းေလးက ေျပာခဲ့တယ္။ “အဲဒါဆိုရင္ သူ(မ)က ျမက္ေတြကို အပတ္စဥ္ ရိတ္မွာေပါ့”
