to pick out : ေရြးခ်ယ္သည္။

-       I want to pick out some new ties to give as Christmas presents to my friends.

သူငယ္ခ်င္းေတြကို ခရစ္စမတ္လက္ေဆာင္ ေပးဖို႔ ကၽြန္ေတာ္ နက္ကတိုင္ေတြ ေရြးခ်င္တယ္။

-       Which book did you pick out to send to Helen?

ဟယ္လင္ ဆီကို ပို႔ဖို႔ မင္းဘယ္စာအုပ္ကို ေရြးထားၿပီလဲ?

to take one’s time : ေအးေအး ေဆးေဆး လုပ္သည္။

-       There is no hurry. You can take your time doing that work.

ဒါ အရင္မလိုပါဘူး၊ မင္းဒီကိစၥ ေအးေအး ေဆးေဆး လုပ္လုိ႔ရတယ္။

-       William never works rapidly. He always takes his time in everything that he does.

ဝီလီယမ္က ဘယ္ေတာ့မွ အလုပ္ကို အလ်င္သလို မလုပ္ဘူး၊ သူ ဘာပဲလုပ္လုပ္ အၿမဲတမ္း ေအးေအး ေဆးေဆး လုပ္တယ္။

to lie down : လွဲေလ်ာင္းသည္။

-       If you are tired, why don’t you lie down for an hour or so?

မင္းပင္ပန္းေနရင္ တစ္နာရီေလာက္ျဖစ္ျဖစ္ လွဲေနပါလားလို႔။

-       The doctor says that Grace must lie down and rest for an hour every afternoon.

“ဂေရ႕(စ္)ကို တစ္ေန႔တစ္နာရီေလာက္ ေန႔လည္ဖက္မွာ လွဲၿပီး အနားယူသင့္တယ္” လို႔ ဆရာဝန္က ေျပာတယ္။

all day long : တစ္ေနကုန္၊ တစ္ေနခမ္း

-       I have been working on this problem all day long.

ကၽြန္ေတာ္ ဒီျပႆနာကို ဆက္ရွင္းေနတာ တစ္ေနကုန္ပဲ။

-       She shopped all day long looking for a new dress.

သူ ဝတ္စံုအသစ္ တစ္စံု လိုက္ရွာ ဝယ္တာ တစ္ေနကုန္ တစ္ေနခန္းပဲ။

on purpose : ရည္ရြက္ခ်က္ရွိရွိ (တမင္တကာ၊ မေတာ္တဆ မဟုတ္)

-       It was not accident. She broke the dish on purpose.

ဒါ မေတာ္တဆ မဟုတ္ဘူး၊ သူ ပန္းကန္ကို တမင္တကာ ခြဲပစ္လိုက္တာ။

-       Do you think he made that mistake on purpose ?

သူ ဒီအမွားကို တမင္တကာ လုပ္တယ္လို႔ မင္းထင္လို႔လား?

by oneself : ကိုယ္ကိုယ္တိုင္

-       John did the work by himself. No one helped him.

ဂၽြန္က အလုပ္ကို သူကိုယ္တုိက္ပဲ လုပ္တယ္၊ သူ႔ကို ဘယ္သူမွ ကူစရာမလိုဘူး။

-       She likes to walk by herself through the park.

သူ(မ)က ပန္းၿခံထဲကို တစ္ေယာက္တည္း သူဖာသာသူ လမ္းေလွ်ာက္ခ်င္တယ္။

to get along : တိုးတက္ ေအာင္ျမင္သည္။

-       John is getting along very well in his study of English.

ဂၽြန္ အဂၤလိပ္စာ ေလ့လာတာ ေတာ္ေတာ္ႀကီးကို တိုးတက္လာတယ္။

-       How is Mr. James getting along in his new job?

မစၥတာ ဂ်ိမ္း တစ္ေယာက္ သူ႔ အလုပ္အသစ္မွာ တိုးတက္(အဆင္ေျပ) ရဲ႕လား?

to make no difference : ဘာမွ မထူးဘူး

-       It makes a big difference to me whether he likes the food I serve.

ကၽြန္ေတာ္ ဧည့္ခံတဲ့ အစားအေသာက္ေတြ သူႀကိဳက္မယ္ဆိုရင္ ကၽြန္ေတာ့္အတြက္ ေတာ္ေတာ္ ေကာင္းမယ္။

-       It makes any difference we do that.

ဒီကိစၥကို တို႔လုပ္လို႔လဲ ဘာမွထူးမွာ မဟုတ္ပါဘူး။

to take out : ဆြဲထုတ္သည္။

-       William took out his handkerchief and wiped his forehead.

ဝီလီယမ္က သူ႔လက္ကိုင္ပုဝါကို ဆြဲထုတ္ၿပီး နဖူးကို သုတ္လိုက္တယ္။

-       The thief suddenly took out a knife and attacked the policeman.

သူခိုးက ႐ုတ္တရက္ ဓါးကို ဆြဲထုတ္လိုက္ၿပီး ရဲကို တိုက္ခိုက္ခဲ့တယ္။

to talk over : ေဆြးေႏြး စဥ္းစား သံုးသပ္သည္။

-       We talked over Carlo's plan to install an air conditioner in the room, but we couldn't reach a decision.

ကာ႐ိုးလ္ ရဲ႕ အခန္းမွာ အဲယားကြန္း တပ္မယ့္ အစီအစဥ္ကို ကၽြန္ေတာ္တို႔ ဝိုင္းေဆြးေႏြးေနတာ ခုထက္ထိေတာ ဆံုးျဖတ္ခ်က္ မက်ေသးဘူး။

-       Before I accepted the new job offer, I talked the matter over with my wife.

ကၽြန္ေတာ့္ကို ကမ္းလွမ္းတဲ့ အလုုပ္အသစ္ကို လက္မခံခင္ ကၽြန္ေတာ့္မိန္းမနဲ႔ ဒီကိစၥကို အရင္ တိုင္ပင္ခဲ့တယ္။
