ဒီစာရင္းက ဒိတ္ေအာက္ေနၿပီ၊ ႐ိုက္ထားတာ ႏွစ္ေပါင္းေတာ္ေတာ္ ၾကာေနၿပီ။

out of date : ေခတ္မမီေသာ၊ ေခတ္မရွိေသာ       

-       Many people buy new cars when their old cars become out of date.

လူေတာ္ေတာ္မ်ားမ်ားက သူတို႔ကားေတြ ေခတ္မမီေတာ့ရင္ အသစ္ဝယ္ၾကတယ္။

-       This book can't be ordered any more because it is out of date. 

ဒီစာအုပ္က ဒိတ္ေအာက္ေနေတာ့ မွာလို႔ မရႏိုင္ေတာ့ဘူး။

to blow up : ေလမႈတ္သြင္းသည္၊ ေပါက္ကြဲသည္၊ ပ်က္စီးသည္။

-       Daddy, could you please blow up this balloon for me?

အေဖ၊ ကၽြန္ေတာ့္ကို ဒီဗူစီေပါင္းေလး ေလမႈတ္ေပးပါလား

-       When the airplane crashed into the ground, it blew up immediately.

ေလယာဥ္က ေျမေပၚကို ပ်က္က်တဲ့အခါ ခ်က္ခ်င္း ေပါက္ကြဲသြားသြားတယ္။

to catch fire : မီးစြဲေလာင္သည္

-       Don't stand too close to the gas stove. Your clothes may catch fire.

မီးဖိုအနားကို အတင္းမကပ္နဲ႔၊ မင္းအဝတ္အစားေတြ မီးစြဲကုန္မယ္။

-       No one seems to know how the old building caught fire. 

ဒီအေဆာက္အဦ အေဟာင္းႀကိီး ဘယ္လို မီးေလာင္တယ္ ဆိုတာ ဘယ္သူမွ သိပံုမေပၚဘူး။

to burn down : မီးေၾကာင့္ လံုးဝပ်က္စီးသြားသည္၊ ဖေယာင္တိုင္မီး တျဖည္းျဖည္း ေလာင္ကၽြမ္းသည္။

-       There was a large amount of wax on the table where the candles had burned down.

ဖေယာင္းတိုင္မီးထြန္းတဲ့ေနရာ စားပြဲေပၚမွာ ဖေယာင္းေတြ အမ်ားႀကီး ျဖစ္ေနၿပီ။

-       The fire spread so quickly that the firefighters could not prevent the whole block of buildings from burning down. 

မီးကူးတာက အရမ္းျမန္ေတာ့ အေဆာက္အဦ တစ္ခုလံုး မီေလာင္ မပ်က္စီးေအာင္ မီးသတ္သမားေတြ မတားႏိုင္ေတာ့ဘူး။

to burn up : မီး႐ႈိ႕သည္၊ စိတ္အေႏွာက္အယွက္ ျဖစ္ေစသည္၊ စိတ္ဆိုးေစသည္။  

-       She didn't want anyone to see the letter, so she burned it up and threw the ashes away.

သူ(မ) က ဒီစာကို ေနာက္ထပ္ မျမင္ခ်င္ေတာ့လို႔ မီး႐ိႈ႕ၿပီး ျပာေတြကို လႊင့္ပစ္ခဲတယ္။

-       It really burns me up that he borrowed my car without asking me first.

ကၽြန္ေတာ္ကို အရင္ ခြင့္မေတာင္းဘဲ  သူက ကားကို ယူသြားတဲ့အတြက္ တကယ္ကို ကၽြန္ေတာ္ စိတ္ဆိုးတယ္။

to burn out : ေလာင္ကၽြမ္းသြားသည္၊ အလုပ္ အလြန္ပင္ပန္းသည္။to stop functioning because of overuse; to make tired from too much work (S)

-       This light bulb has burned out. Could you get another one?

ဒီမီးလံုးက ကၽြမ္းသြားၿပီ၊ ေနာက္ထပ္တစ္ခု ေလာက္ ရႏိုင္မလား?

-       Studying all day for my final exams has really burned me out.

ေနာက္ဆံုး စာေမးပြဲအတြက္ တစ္ေနကုန္ စာၾကည့္လိုက္တာ တကယ္ကို ပင္ပန္း ႏြမ္းနယ္သြားတယ္။

to make good : ေအာင္ျမင္သည္။ to succeed

-       He is a hard worker, and I'm sure that he will make good in that new job.

သူက အလုပ္အလြန္လုပ္တဲ့သူေလ၊ သူ႔အလုပ္ အသစ္မွာ ေအာင္ျမင္မယ္လို ကၽြန္ေတာ္ ေသခ်ာေပါက္ ေျပာႏုိင္တယ္။

-       Mary has always made good in everything that she has done.

ေမရီက သူလုပ္တဲ့ ကိစၥတိုင္းကို အၿမဲတမ္း ေအာင္ျမင္ေအာင္ လုပ္တယ္။

         

stand to reason : ရွင္းရွင္းလင္းလင္း ျဖစ္သည္၊ အက်ိဳးအေၾကာင္းဆီေလ်ာ္သည္။

 (stand to reason ကို subject ‘It’ ျဖင့္ေရးၿပီး that clause ျဖင့္တြဲကာ သံုးပါသည္။)

-       It stands to reason that a person without experience cannot do the work as well as an experienced one.

အေတြ႔အႀကံဳမရွိတဲ့သူ တစ္ေယာက္က အေတြ႔အႀကံဳ ရွိတဲ့သူေလာက္ေတာ့ မလုပ္ႏိုင္ဘူးဆိုတာ ရွင္းပါတယ္/ အက်ိဳးအေၾကာင္း ဆီေလွ်ာ္ပါတယ္။

-       It stands to reason that he isn't going to pass the course if he never studies.

တစ္ခါမွ စာမၾကည့္ဘဲ နဲ႔ စာေမးပြဲ မေအာင္ႏုိင္ဘူးဆိုတာ ရွင္းပါတယ္/ အက်ိဳးအေၾကာင္း ဆီေလွ်ာ္ ပါတယ္။
