ေန႔စဥ္သံုး အီဒီယမ္မ်ား အပိုင္း - (၁)

to get on : ကား၊ ရထား စသည့္ ယဥ္မ်ားေပၚသို႔ တက္သည္။

-       I always get on the bust at 34th street.

ကၽြန္ေတာ္ ၃၄ လမ္းကပဲ အၿမဲတမ္း ကားစီးတယ္။

-       William always gets on the subway at the same station every morning.

ဝီလီယံက မနက္ခင္းမွာ ဘူတာတစ္ခုတည္းကပဲ အၿမဲတမ္း ေျမေအာက္ရထားစီးတယ္။

to get off : ကား၊ ရထား စသည့္ ယဥ္မ်ားမွ ဆင္းသည္။

-       Helen got off the train at the 42nd Street terminal.

ဟယ္လင္က ၄၂-လမ္းဘူတာမွာ ဆင္းတယ္။

-       At what station do you usually get off the subway?

မင္း ခါတိုင္း ဘယ္ဘူတာမွာ ဆင္းလဲ?

to put on : ဝတ္ဆင္သည္။

-       Mary put on her coat and left the room.

ေမရီက သူ႔ ကုတ္အက်ႌကို ဝတ္ၿပီး အခန္းထဲက ထြက္တယ္။

-       Put your hat on before you leave the house.

အျပင္မထြက္ခင္ မင္း ဦးထုတ္ ေဆာင္းပါ။

to take off : (အဝတ္အစားမ်ားကို) ခၽြတ္သည္။

-       John took off his jacket as he entered the office.

ဂၽြန္က ႐ံုးထဲကို ဝင္လာတဲ့အတြက္ေၾကာင့္ သူ႔ အေပၚအက်ႌကို ခၽြတ္လိုက္တယ္။

-       Take your sweater off. The room is very warm.

အခန္းက ေတာ္ေတာ္ေႏြးတယ္၊ မင္းဆြယ္တာကို ခၽြတ္လိုက္ေပါ့။

to call up : ဖံုးဆက္သည္။

-       I forgot to call up Mr. Jones yesterday although I promised to call him up at three o’ clock.

မေန႔က ၃ နာရီမွာ မစၥတာ ဂ်ံဳး(စ္)ကို ဖံုးဆက္မယ္လို႔ ကတိေပးထားေပမယ့္ ကၽြန္ေတာ္ ဖံုးဆက္ဖို႔ ေမ့သြားတယ္။

-       Did anyone call me up while I was out?

ကၽြန္ေတာ္ အျပင္သြားတုန္းက တစ္ေယာက္ေယာက္ ကၽြန္ေတာ့္ကို ဖံုးဆက္ေသးလား?

turn on : (မီးခလုပ္၊ ေရပိုက္စသည္) တို႔ကို ဖြင့္သည္။

-       Please turn on the light; it's too dark in here.

ဒီမွာ အရမ္းေမွာင္ေနတယ္ ေက်းဇူးျပဳၿပီး မီးဖြင့္လိုက္ပါ။

-       Do you know who turned the air conditioning on?

ေလးေအးေပးစက္ကို ဘယ္သူဖြင့္ခဲ့လဲ မင္းသိလား?

to turn off : (မီးခလုပ္၊ ေရပိုက္စသည္) တို႔ကို ဖြင့္သည္။

-       Please turn off the light when you leave the room.

မင္းအျပင္ထြက္ရင္ ေက်းဇူးျပဳၿပီး မီးပိတ္ ခဲ့ပါ။

-       Are you really listening to the radio, or should I turn it off?

-       မင္း ေရဒီယို နားေထာင္ေနလား ကၽြန္ေတာ္ ပိတ္လိုက္ရမလား?

right away : ခ်က္ခ်င္း

-       Can William come to my office right away?

ဝီလီယမ္ ကၽြန္ေတာ့္႐ုံးကို ခ်က္ခ်င္း လာႏိုင္မလား?

-       She says that dinner will be ready right away.

သူ(မ)က ညေနစာ ခ်က္ခ်င္း အဆင္သင့္ျဖစ္ေတာ့မယ္လို႔ ေျပာတယ္။

to pick up : ေကာက္ယူသည္။

-       John picked up the newspaper which was on his desk.

ဂၽြန္က သူ႔စားပြဲေပၚက သတင္းစာကို ေကာက္ယူလိုက္္တယ္။

-       Why don’t you pick up that pencil which lay on the floor?

ၾကမ္းျပင္ေပၚက်ေနတဲ့ ခဲတံကို ေကာက္လိုက္ပါလား?

sooner or later : အေႏွး နဲ႔ အျမန္ဆိုသလို

-       If you study English seriously, sooner or later you'll become fluent.

မင္း အဂၤလိပ္စာကို ျပင္းျပင္းထန္ထန္ ေလ့လာရင္ အေႏွးနဲ႔အျမန္ဆိုသလို မင္း ကၽြမ္းကၽြမ္း က်င္က်င္ ေျပာႏိုင္လာလိမ့္မယ္။

-       If you try hard, sooner or later you’ll be success.

မင္း ႀကိဳးစားရင္ အေႏွးနဲ႔အျမန္ဆိုသလို မင္း ေအာင္ျမင္လာလိမ့္မယ္။

get up : အိပ္ရာ မွထသည္။

-       I get up at six o’ clock every morning.

မနက္တိုင္း ၆ နာရီမွာ အိပ္ရာက ထတယ္။

-       What time do you usually get up?

ခါတိုင္း မင္းဘယ္အခ်ိန္ အိပ္ရာက ထလဲ?

at first : ပထမေတာ့၊ အစတုန္းက၊ ဦးစြာ

-       At first English was difficult for him, but later he made great progress.

အစတုန္းကေတာ့ အဂၤလိပ္စာက ခက္ေပမယ့္ ေနာက္ေတာ့လည္း အေျခအေနတိုးတက္ လာေအာင္ သူ လုပ္ႏိုင္ခဲ့တယ္။

-       At first I thought it was John who was telephoning to me.

အစတုန္းကေတာ့ ကၽြန္ေတာ့္ကို ဖံုးဆက္တာ ဂၽြန္လို႔ ထင္ခဲ့တယ္။
